Find out why we need to modify Pilates exercises in the first place. Learn to identify wrong movement patterns and correct those movements so that your clients perform the exercises more efficiently. Learn to take into consideration exercise contraindications for clients who are injured or suffer from chronic pain. Our job as Pilates instructors is to first and foremost find out what our clients’ goals are and then work with them to help them reach those goals. Once we are aware of each client goals, then we can modify our Pilates repertoire accordingly. A older person whose goal is to walk up and down stairs may need different exercise modification versus a client whose goal is to win the next martial arts competition.
